Getting started
Do I need to live near Augusta to work with you?
No! In-person training is available in the Augusta and Farmingdale area, and remote coaching and custom workout programs let us work together from elsewhere. We can discuss which option fits your location and schedule.
Do I need to be fit or have experience before starting?
Not at all. You don’t need to get in shape before asking for support. We’ll start with your current experience and abilities, then build a realistic plan and progress from there.
Do you work with older adults?
Yes. Training can focus on strength, balance, confidence, and the everyday activities that matter to you. Your starting point, goals, and any relevant provider recommendations help guide the plan.
Is this only for weight loss?
No. Weight loss is one possible goal, but many clients want to build muscle, feel stronger, improve confidence, support sports performance, or maintain independence. We’ll focus on what progress means to you.
Can men join the Valkyrie?
Absolutely! Despite the name, Valkyrie Rising welcomes men as well as women. Your goals, experience, and the support you need matter more than whether you identify with the name.
How do I know which service to choose?
You don’t need to have that figured out first. The website quiz can help clarify your preferences, and our discovery call gives us a chance to discuss your goals, schedule, and the level of support you want.
What happens during a discovery call?
We’ll talk about what you want help with, what has made progress difficult, and what working together could look like. It’s also your opportunity to ask questions about services, scheduling, pricing, and next steps.
Training options and locations
What is the difference between personal training and coaching?
With in-person personal training, I’m physically with you during your session to guide exercises, technique, and progression. With remote coaching, you complete workouts independently while receiving personalized programming and the ongoing support included in your package. Coaching does not automatically include in-person sessions.
Where do in-person sessions take place?
I work with clients at Smith’s True Fitness in Augusta and Kennebec Valley Health Club in Farmingdale. We’ll confirm the location and scheduling fit before you purchase a package.
Are gym memberships included?
No. Your training package pays for your work with me; gym memberships and any applicable facility access fees are separate. We’ll review the requirements for your selected location before you begin.
Can I train at home or at a different gym?
Yes, with remote coaching or a custom program. Your workouts can be designed around your available space and equipment. In-person sessions with me take place at an agreed location.
What if I don’t have much equipment?
Let’s talk about what you have and what you want to accomplish. A useful starting plan doesn’t always require a full gym, although some goals may benefit from access to additional equipment.
Can I train with a friend or partner?
You can inquire about training together. We’ll discuss your goals, experience, and schedules to see whether a shared arrangement makes sense. Paired and small-group options depend on availability and a suitable fit.
Can I combine in-person sessions with remote coaching?
We can discuss a combination that gives you hands-on guidance and a plan for independent workouts. The services, support, and costs would be agreed before starting; in-person sessions are not automatically part of a coaching subscription.
How long are personal training sessions?
Standard in-person sessions are 55 minutes. We’ll use that time for training and the instruction and feedback you need to progress.
What if I travel frequently or can’t commit to the same time most weeks?
Remote coaching may be a good fit because you can complete workouts around your own schedule. If you prefer in-person support, we can discuss whether your availability aligns with mine. Specific appointment times depend on current openings.
Your plan and ongoing support
Are the workouts customized?
Yes. A personalized plan considers your goals, experience, available equipment, schedule, and relevant limitations. With ongoing coaching, we can adjust the plan as we learn what works for you.
What is the difference between a custom workout program and ongoing coaching?
A standalone custom program gives you a personalized plan to follow independently. Ongoing coaching adds the check-ins, feedback, and adjustments included in your package. We’ll make the support level clear so you know what to expect.
Will I have to exercise every day?
No. The aim is a realistic routine that supports your goals and recovery. We’ll discuss how much time you can consistently dedicate rather than assuming the same schedule works for everyone.
How do you measure progress?
That depends on your goals. We might track strength, workout consistency, movement confidence, endurance, everyday activities, or nutrition habits. Body weight can be one measure when relevant, but it isn’t the only way to recognize progress.
How quickly will I see results?
There isn’t one timeline that applies to everyone. Your starting point, goals, consistency, recovery, and circumstances all matter. We’ll set realistic expectations and look for meaningful progress along the way rather than promise a specific outcome by a fixed date.
Nutrition and habits
Can I get nutrition support without personal training?
Yes. We can discuss nutrition and habit coaching on its own, or alongside an exercise plan, depending on what you need.
Will I have to count calories, create a food diary or track macros?
Not necessarily. I often recommend tracking at some point to understand your starting point and fine-tune your nutrition. It can be a useful tool, alongside meal structure, portions, protein, planning, and consistent habits. We’ll discuss which approach fits your goals and daily life, and set realistic expectations.
Will I have to give up foods I enjoy?
The goal is to build an approach you can maintain, including foods you enjoy. We can work on practical choices and routines for everyday life, travel, holidays, and eating out.
Can you help with habits outside the gym?
Yes. Depending on your package and priorities, we can work on routines such as meal planning, daily movement, and systems that help you follow through. These habits should support your life rather than require everything to revolve around fitness.
Returning to exercise and sports support
Can you help me get back to exercise after physical therapy or an injury?
We can discuss support with returning to a regular exercise routine after appropriate clearance. With your permission, I can coordinate with your physical therapist or other provider and incorporate their exercise recommendations. Personal training supports your return to exercise; it does not replace rehabilitation or medical care.
Can you include exercises my physical therapist recommends?
Yes, we can discuss how to include your provider’s recommendations in your training plan. Sharing the relevant guidance helps us build a consistent approach alongside your care.
Do you work with athletes outside their normal sports season?
You can inquire about additional strength and conditioning support outside the normal sports season. We’ll discuss the athlete’s sport, age, experience, goals, and existing training schedule to determine whether my services are an appropriate fit.
Can I reach out on behalf of my child or teen athlete?
Yes. A parent or guardian is welcome to make the initial inquiry and join the discovery call. We’ll discuss the athlete’s needs, current sports commitments, and the appropriate next steps before making a training arrangement.
Packages and next steps
How much does it cost to work with you?
Pricing depends on the service, support level, and package you choose. We’ll review current pricing, what is included, and any separate gym costs before you commit. If you’re unsure which service fits, start with the quiz or a discovery call.
What if I don’t see a package that matches what I need?
Please reach out. I can discuss custom arrangements when appropriate, depending on your goals, the support needed, and availability.
How do I get started?
Complete and submit the short website quiz first, then choose a discovery-call time. Your answers help Jasmine prepare for your conversation. After we discuss the right fit, I’ll explain the package, payment, paperwork, and onboarding steps needed to get started.
